As she emphasizes in her Etsy shop, her goal is “to create meaningful, personalized, and unique art that allows people to connect on a deeper level.”

Blair’s map shop specializes in handcrafted couple maps, although she also sells t-shirts and other illustrations. Not long ago, she only offered one version of the Map of Us design. Today, she provides maps with 5, 8, or 12 locations in two sizes:
– Small (11x14) – more affordable
– Medium (16x20)

For customers within the US, maps are printed in high quality and framed in a Teakwood Magnetic Hanging Frame. The printing is done by Fireball Printing, a company that works with recycled materials.
If you’re located outside the US, the shop doesn’t ship internationally, so only the digital version is available.

Blair receives custom orders only once a month. After accepting an order, she draws on her iPad using Procreate, aiming to capture places and moments as closely as possible to the customers’ photos and memories. The stylus she uses is configured for fine lines, allowing for highly detailed work. Blair also likes adding special touches to make each map unique and memorable.

Although many assume her creative process is 100% original and flawless, Blair explains that she embraces influences from others and believes the process should be enjoyable rather than “perfect.”

 

HER BEGINNINGS AND GROWTH

Blairsmaps started as a shop on Etsy, where many independent sellers offer their handcrafted goods. At that time, she lived in New York and unfortunately lost her Instagram followers when her account was hacked.
As more and more requests came in, she updated her website and developed her signature Map of Us design.
Her work went viral on TikTok, with videos reaching over 300,000 views and some reaching more than 2.5 million likes.
Today, Blair is a full-time illustrator, working from Washington in a more natural setting.
Once a month, she opens her order book for an event called a Drop, where only a handful of lucky customers can secure a spot. These spots sell out within 15 seconds. Due to overwhelming demand, her calendar is already fully booked until mid–next year.
